- Search by concept or colour rather than the emoji name: "love" finds hearts across several categories, "yellow" narrows to yellow-toned emoji, and "food" spans everything in the food block, which is faster than scrolling a category you might browse past.
- Single emoji from this library render consistently across platforms because they are single code points without skin-tone or gender modifiers. They are the safest pick when you need an emoji that looks the same on iOS, Android, and in email.
- Emoji in a bio or a display name are counted as one character each (or two, for a very small number of older code points), so one or two well-chosen emoji next to a plain-text name keeps the character count low while still adding visual personality.
Common mistakes
- Using emoji in a hashtag: hashtags are matched by the literal ASCII characters after the #, and adding an emoji to a hashtag creates a different or invalid tag, not a decorated version of the same one. Keep hashtags plain text.
- Assuming an emoji will look the same on every device: each platform draws its own artwork for each emoji, and the same character can look noticeably different on iOS versus Android versus Windows. The character is standard; the picture it draws is not.
- Copying a multi-character skin-tone or family combination from another source and expecting it to paste cleanly: this tool only lists single-character emoji to avoid that problem. A complex combination copied from elsewhere may show as a broken sequence on some devices.
