- Keep glitch text to five or six characters for best effect: the combining marks stack vertically, and a long glitch string overflows its line height and pushes surrounding elements aside for other viewers.
- Use one glitched word inside a plain sentence for emphasis: a single corrupted word reads as intentional; a whole paragraph in glitch reads as illegible.
- Glitch text often pops more against a dark background than a light one: preview in the app you are posting to, since the visual weight changes significantly between dark and light mode.

- Applying glitch to a full bio or a sentence meant to be read: the combining marks multiply across each character and the result becomes illegible faster than you expect.
- Using glitch for important information like a handle, a call to action, or a link: the style actively slows reading, which is the opposite of what those pieces of text need.

Glitch text is built from combining marks stacked on top of each letter, and different devices and apps render dense stacks of marks slightly differently. Heavier glitch styles are more likely to look different between devices than light ones, so preview a style at the intensity you plan to use before committing to it for something like a username.
Can heavy glitch text get a message blocked or flagged as spam?
